1908: Northwestern University (N.U.) School of
Commerce in downtown Chicago.
¢º1920's:
Started MBA and PhD programs.
¢º1969:
Northwestern University Graduate School of Business Administration
becomes the N.U. Graduate School of Management and
henceforth would award the Master of Management or the
"MM" degree.
¢º1972:
Leverone Hall is completed and the business school moves
to N.U.'s Evanston campus from Chicago.
The Manager's Program (MM part-time
program) begins in its place downtown.
¢º1975:
Donald P. Jacobs becomes Dean
¢º1976:
Executive Master's Program begins.
¢º1979:
GSBA receives a $10 million grant from the J.L. and Helen
Kellogg Foundation and changes its name
to the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School
of Management at Northwestern University.
¢º1979:
James Allen Center opened, providing a proto-type facility
for an Executive Education living and
learning center. To date, it has had
four additions and currently has 164 bedrooms, three dining
rooms, classrooms, study group rooms,
etc.
¢º1985:
Kellogg's full-time program was ranked #1 by the Wall
Street Journal in the first ever rankings
for B-Schools. This was followed by
three straight #1 rankings in Business Week in 88, 90,
92. Currently #2 in Business Week.
¢º1991:
EMP is ranked #1 by Business Week and U.S. News and has
never been ranked lower.
¢º2000:
$40 Million renovation of Wieboldt Hall completed giving
TMP the most modern building of any
such part-time program nationwide.
¢º2000:
Due to the globalization of business and its own programs,
the Kellogg School changes the MM degree
to an MBA degree across all programs.
¢º2001:
New 75,000 sq. foot, $30 million North wing added to the
full- time building. Entire complex renamed
the Donald P. Jacobs Center by N.U.
¢º2001:
Dipak C. Jain becomes 11th Dean.
¢º2002:
N.U. and the J.L. Kellogg family approve name change to
Kellogg School of Management for branding
purposes.
¢º2002:
Kellogg's full-time program was ranked #1 by Business
Week and Economist Intelligence Unit
